Well Joey, problem is you cant lead those who choose not to be led. The GOP made it very clear form the first hour they had a mandate and that mandate was to obstruct our president at every turn. No one on the right dared to cross the Tea Baggers lines. We do have a huge problem in Washington i agree, we cant beat congress into submission, unfortunately there are laws that prohibit that. Obama is a brilliant mind, and we as a country can give thanks he was the man in charge over the last 4 years. Never i the History of out Nation have we ever had a stronger and more focused president. The man has got a steel rod for a spine, after everything those pigs put him through. We do have problems, our president is not one of them.

joey said>>>>You are different. Your complete and utter ignorance on just about every subject continues to amaze me.

gypsy>>.yes I am different from most people... why? cause iv lived among other cultures and lived a rather extreme life compared to most in America. having broader view of life has helped me in many ways.

well hmmmm ur the ignorant one here, what is really going on is...> ur hating on me because I pist you off.. so ur trying to **** me off NOW -so go ahead I don't define my self by what others say ...

so call me anything you like baby !!!! opps maybe : )

.... u think ur being so clever by saying>>>>>>>>>>. I am not voting for Romney, I am voting AGAINST obama

yea right, people that read that know why your really voting for mitt, who has a binder of women and wants to get rid of big bird, ya right .

and oh- by the way, mitt refuses to acknowledge his Mexican heritage, pretending to be 100 percent Caucasian. what wrong with admitting who you really are?

I bet him and big bird will be flying around the white house looking for sister wife's ..

    Obama on COMPROMISE:
"A good compromise, a good piece of legislation, is like a good sentence; or a good piece of music. Everybody can recognize it. They say, 'Huh. It works. It makes sense.' "

anyone can google bi-partisan+compromise+obama and get thousands of hits... in fact Obama is often critisized for his constant compromising... anyone remember the heathcare act? The debt ceiling? Aparently some people on this comment thread don't.

Joey>>.the US is to get the economy going, and this begins and ends with confidence in government performance.

gypsy>> yes I agree once we have confidence with in our own government, then people will feel free to spend and from that jobs will be created...

Joey>>.The sitting President re-affirms on a daily basis that it's acceptable to be a demagogue. Stick to your principles and never compromise.

gypsy>>> its hard to change, be it laws or ideologies when you have a good ole boy congress that has kept the same position for decades, some of them are so old and live in a bubble they have no idea what goes on in the real world,

Joey>>.People wanted change 4 years ago.We need change, because Obama hasn't changed a damn thing

gypsy>>. its congress who doesn't want change. they are afraid of change, afraid of losing their fat bank accounts, afraid of losing their political position.

Joey>>>barrack Obama has effectively ground the government to a halt. He is not a leader.

    gypsy>>. how? please explain ?

p/s my personal view, that some may fine unfavorably P/C

Those that oppose obama don't want a black man in the white house, and I do believe that is why congress wont work with obama.

President Carter said>>> There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president.” agree with that statement 100 percent.

IF a person VOTES FOR ROMNEY to punish Obama then they clearly don't understand what the democratic system is or how it works. You don't want to vote for Obama? Fine, vote for a third party or do a write in, Voting for Romney is voting FOR Romney. This man thinks he knows women because he "has binders full of thousands of women", this man has had dead family members "converted to the Mormon Religion, AFTER they were dead, so they wouldn't be in HELL" ... this man not only opposes abortion and birth control HE OPPOSES MY right as a women to decide for myself if I want to take birth control or have an abortion.... His VP is worse than him.... I am sorry but its sick. Paul Ryan thinks rape is a form of conception, and believes medicine and science "prove" his view point!!! ANYone who votes for that, is ignorant.

My favorite OBAMA quote “There is not a liberal America and a conservative America—there is the United States of America. There is not a black America and a white America and Latino America and Asian America—there’s the United States of America.” <----- sounds like a "President that re-affirms on a daily basis that it's acceptable to be a demagogue. and a person who believes in sticking to your principles and never compromising ".

In 2002 Romney endorsed the legalization of RU-486, the abortion-inducing drug but in 2005 he vetoed emergency contraception for rape victims and the ability to obtain the morning-after pill without a prescription.

Romney has stated as president he would defund Planned Parenthood, and has pledged to restore and strengthen the conscience protection. "We have to allow people to practice their faith and when they have a matter of conscience that they can't participate in some form of activity which violates their faith, then they should be able to abide by their faith, particularly when there are plenty of opportunities for people to have a service provided."

I've seen what Romney can do. He's far from perfect, but he doesn't sacrifice who he is to find compromise. <--- please see the list of flip flops

He seeks a middle ground<---- please see NO ABORTIONS and No funding for planned parenthood and NO healtcare reform... middle ground? Middle of what ground?

Romney in 1994 was someone I wouldn't mind as president... Romney today is a puppet of Anne Coulterisms.

Bill Clinton has many times referred to Obama as inexperienced and has historically not been supportive of what Obama did<---- remember that Obama ran against Hilliary and then Obama made her a part of his cabinet and she accepted. Do you put people on your cabinet that who's views you oppose? Do you accept the position if you don't support the policy of the person asking you to do that?

All politicians flip-flop. It doesn't matter<-------- wow. I thought I had seen it all... wow just wow.

It makes him easy to pretend to like though since essentially flip flopping leads one to believe that he agree's with them... if you are pro-choice and also anti-abortion you can appeal to every kind of ignorance LMAO

My favorite line of his was in response to the question if we defund Planned Parenthood where will a poor woman go to get the services she got there?

"This is the United States of America. She can go anywhere she wants."

At which point I am sure an advisor whispered in his ear, "Um, sir, not everyone can afford to go anywhere."

Mitt Romney, Man Of the People.

I'm curious and furious.... All else set aside. What does one think of an administration that watches for hours a live feed of those in Benghazi, struggling to defend and survive...assured help will be there if they can just hold out. And nobody came? Someone said "stand down".
Or is this just collateral damage that can be expected, to win a campaign?

I'm sure your decisions have been well thought out and weighed. Who is the enemy anymore? Where is the press? I fully expect a movie will be made of this... it has all the earmarks of betrayal.

You can google the quiestion... but here's one link..to get you started:
      http://www.examiner.com/article/cia-denied-military-backup-benghazi-panetta-spouts-obama-talking-points
Here's another... and read the responses...This is the tip of the iceburg:
      http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2012/10/why-did-obama-choose-to-stand-down-in-benghazi.php
      Here's a video to ponder...
      http://video.foxnews.com/v/1930232447001/forces-told-to-stand-down-during-libya-consulate-attack/?playlist_id=903226511001
Have you noticed that when the Pres is asked the question directly....he diverts to simple talking points? "we're trying to put the pieces together"...."we're going to find those responsible...".
And these aren't the latest findings. But you can wait til after the election because this isn't going away. And the mainstream media won't be able to keep the lid on it as it unfolds.
And to those who want to add the race card to this... I was proud that we've come this far, to see the people elect a man with supposidly great promises and ideals.
The MAN has failed us... the color doesn't matter. My interest is keeping America strong...internally and externally. My vote goes against one who doesn't... and yes it's always a matter of the "devil you don't know". But I won't reward the devil found out... on the basis of "just because".

I agree...at the podium, you can only espouse so much. And after 4 years of espousing, with unlimited time... all I see is someone who sounds like he's making promises as if it were the first time. But he's had 4 years to put substance to his promises. As if he's adrift at sea... when the ship rises up..."hey...we're making progress". When the ship goes back down... "It's not my fault". He's riding on the sea of our struggling economy's own measures to survive. Not anything he's done to proactively give it any space to thrive.
No mistaking, there's good and evil in any system, it's just the nature of man. I'm as critical of business' that cut their own throats in the name of stockholder profit as I am of anything else. They have a lot more leeway, when they don't have to tighten the belt so hard that it chokes off their own lifeline.... the ability to hire...the people to spend... it's more like a symbiotic relationship cycle, when allowed to properly, with some oversight, to power up.

“I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.”

This is my favorite Ben Franklin quote.

Haha! Way to come completely unhinged over your own ******* behavior.

Your honest, adult (See how I used a comma? Give it a shot!) reply was a bullshit excuse for stupidity.

Then you decided to call me an idiot. I pointed out the fact that you're in fact the imbecile in this conversation and you go and get your caps lock and period key stuck down causing you to look like an even bigger moron.

The funniest part about the entire post is that you honestly believe that you somehow shook me to my core by calling me an idiot.

You tell me that I'm only capable of name calling when, prior to this post, you had been the only one calling names.

You're not a sapiosexual. You're not intelligent enough to recognize higher intellect.

I can see why you live in a sexless marriage. You're husband is probably tired of hearing you blather on about bullshit. That would rob any man of sexual desire.

Also, stop calling yourself a cosmetologist. Using that particular Latin suffix is designed to make it seem as though there's a real science to what you do when, simply put, you paint the ******* clowns.

That my dear is game, set, and match.

That's a tennis reference, by the way.

If you really are a sapiosexual your ***** should be dripping by the time you get to this sentence.

You're too easy, lol. Regarding my home life, I was savagely abused from shortly after birth until my father died when I was 17.

Not that you'll believe me, and it really doesn't matter, but I'm likely one of the most intelligent people that you've ever met. You being older than me does not mean you're smarter, it simply means no one has cut your throat for mouthing off yet. You were a stupid child and now you're a stupid adult.

I'll give you a little backstory so you know who you're talking to...

I was accepted into university at 15 to study physics, with quantum physics being my main interest. I had my PhD at 21. I started a business while in college that paid my way through. I sold that business at 24 for $2.6M.

Now I travel the country in the amazing RV I purchased to do so. I own a home in my birth state of Vermont, not quite the bible belt.

I am a titan, and you are an ant.

Beautiful! You should send that letter to the president! I'd say to send it to Romney but I know from dealing with my own elected republicans that he'll just ignore it. If they don't like what their reading then they simply deleat it! Romney is proof of that at every turn. In Pueblo, Colorado Romney made an appearance and told the crowd that he will seek energy independence by opening up more to drill and killing the tax breaks to those who want to use renuable energy.

There was just one problem. Pueblo had just seen a lay off of over a hundred people from the WIND TURBAN plant that was located there. Many of those people were in attendance and were not happy about this revelation and vocalized that. While he actually didn't have these people removed he did continue on with the same speech as if he never even heard those people who had just lost their jobs. The man was raised with a golden spoon in his mouth and will never, ever know the middle class. It doesn't matter to him that we are the majority. What does matter to him is how much money we either have or don't have.

I hope that I get a chance to read your paper!

Thank you for the heart felt post!

Very well put. Although I am not American, being over this side of the Atlantic, much of what you said applies equally to our (Brit) government/system. It dosen't matter which party seems to worm their way into government, they are all just outright hypocrites, snouts in the trough as was mentioned overhere. Say one thing while doing the opposite. Exactly as in your letter, slashing welfare for the real needy whilst looking after their wa**er banker friends, and this from both sides of the political divide. Yes we too have the 'full time' benefit scroungers but as you said, you just cannot put every recipient of welfare in the same catagory.

    Hope all's well for you

A true leader puts John Boehner in his place and also instructs Harry Reid to stop being a partisan tool. Obama wants conflict, not compromise. Yes. Devisive.

The White House sets the tone. Anyone who can get outwitted by John Boehner is apparently dumber than we think.

Well the President can't just tell them what to do unfortunately the final decision comes down to the Congress that's the way our government is set up. The only time something is left up to the President is after a bill is sent from Congress to the Supreme Court and the President gets it and veto's it its sent all the way back and even then if the Congress rly wants it in they usually still get it in this is the kind of stupid crap they teach you in grade school...I hate those stupid Conjunction junction videos but they do help sometimes in the learning process if u don't fall asleep.

I watched Mitch McConnell and Harry Reid on 60 Minutes last night and I've never been more disgusted. I agree that the House and Senate are broken.

I never said that he can control them. But he could lead. He just doesn't know how.

While I am utterly disgusted at how generally inaccurate he was about the 47%, this hasn't made the decision any easier for me. Nearly half of 47% were afforded the opportunity to avoid a tax burden by Ronald Reagan. It's a GOOD thing. People that can't afford to pay taxes (the elderly, indigent, full-time students) shouldn't HAVE to pay taxes. They contribute in other ways.

But, that doesn't change one of the realities of his statement: there are, in fact, people who do NOT give back. There are takers... too many of them. There are PLENTY of entitled people who are a burden to all of us.

But they aren't all within the 47%. Those of us in the 99% contribute a large portion of our incomes back into the economy, regardless of our tax rate. And, because many of us are living check to check, or at least darn close to that, we don't get to choose where we spend that money. But, that's not true for the 1%.

Mitt Romney hasn't had a meaningful W2 income in years, and yet he "earns" millions of dollars a year. (Technically, other people are earning FOR him). Because it's capital gains, he only pays 15% tax. Giving 10% of his income only brings his overall burden up to 25%. Meanwhile, he has multiple lavish homes, numerous vehicles and is removed from reality.

Barack Obama and the Democrats turn around and claim that they are looking out for the middle class. This is also utter nonsense. The best way to improve tax income for the US is to get the economy going, and this begins and ends with confidence in government performance. The sitting President re-affirms on a daily basis that it's acceptable to be a demagogue. Stick to your principles and never compromise.

    So, what do we have?
    - the least productive Congress in decades (almost literally, they can't agree on anything)
    - we don't vote for the best candidates anymore, we only vote on vertical issues.
    - you want evidence that we can't negotiate fairly anymore? Look at the teacher strike in Chicago.

Mitt Romney is a removed and offensive jackass.

But, Barack Obama has effectively ground the government to a halt. He is not a leader.

People wanted change 4 years ago.

We need change, because Obama hasn't changed a damn thing. I'm not voting for Romney. I'm voting against Obama, even though I have little confidence in Romney.

You have some good points, but I disagree with many of them. The thing that makes me sad, is that you are using your vote out of spite. "I'm voting against Obama, even though I have little confidence in Romney." For force yourself to choose the lesser of two evils? If you don't have total confidence in EITHER candidate, then why not consider sitting this one out? I have done that before and felt much better about my decision than voting for one person, simply because you dislike the other.

P.S. It's hard to make change happen when you are roadblocked by the opposing party at every corner. Don't hold Obama solely responsible for the lack of progress. Recognize that there are those who have made many of those tasks nearly impossible simply because they are disgruntled about losing their election and want to prove the point. I am tired, so I may not have been very clear on that last point, but hopefully you get where I am coming from!

Both parties are guilty of this. Agreed that the Republicans have stooped to new lows with the filibuster, but it is a reality that Obama supports the notion of zero compromise.

It has ZERO to do with color. Please don't pretend to understand me if you don't. Obama's problem is that he has been unable to get his head out of the senate. He is partisan in his approach and he's going to spend this country into oblivion.

The Country Club Set (aka one per centers) clearly feel that this is a county of "takers" and "makers." It is clear that Mr Romney was addressing the "makers." He is defining this election more by the day. The huge majority of Americans are literally just a pay check or two from an economic abyss. Most Americans would guess that Mr Romney has never been in that situation. MJF, thank you for posting this powerful letter.
