Posted Apr 30th, 2008 at 6:10PM Lots of us are Christians, though. We should have that option if we want it. The white dress, the rice, the limo, sharing a love between ourselves and our gods. It's important. We don't want to have to hide. We want to be acknowledged as gods children as much as anyone else is.
Posted Apr 30th, 2008 at 6:23PM I don't think you understood me. I understand what you're saying. I am in a "marriage" and I wouldn't care at all if it were a civil union instead. And none of my lesbian or gay friends who consider themselves married would mind having a civil union, in fact all of them would love it if they could be acknowledged in that way. I think it just depends on who you know and what their opinions are.
Posted Apr 30th, 2008 at 6:35PM I am not, myself, a Christian. I was just using an example of one of many many gods that we might want to be married in the sight of. How many straights do you know who have a "civil union"? They call it "marriage" plain and simple. They are allowed to, they are encouraged to. We are given something half-assed because a bunch of men wearing freakin dresses refuse to acknowledge us. Still. In 2000 freakin 8. Sorry but this topic really ****** me off.....
Posted Oct 11th, 2009 at 11:01PM If gay people want to legalize their relationships, our laws provide a way to do this. How can one attach a sacrament, a ceremony for something sacred, to sexual deviance? 'Man and woman created he them.' Everyone of us is genetically predisposed to some form of aberration. Love of money, addictions, Personality disorders and on and on ie...We all have something to overcome. Perhaps you could overcome the obsessive need to redefine what the majority holds sacred. The sacrament of marriage. There is one God and many concepts of him. His laws do not go against natural order. You really must learn to respect the opinion of majority, as you try to force majority to respect your opinion. This is a democracy, is it not?
Posted Oct 12th, 2009 at 12:51AM Actually, I think you will find that it is now only a minority that does not support gay marriage. Secondly, like I said before marriage need't have anything to do with religion for it to be called and recognised as a marriage. There is certainly nothing sacred about the institution any more. Thirdly, I am an atheist...But if I'm wrong about that and god did in fact create the world and everything in it, then he created homosexuality. Fourth and perhaps most important, homosexuality is not a choice nor a deviance it is an orientation, and can no more be overcome than I could 'overcome' the colour of my eyes.
