makes sense to me.

apparently in (most) states in the US its legal for homosexual couples to adopt, so i don't really see what difference it makes if they get married too. *shrug*

yeah, i hear that too.
i believe Florida's the only state where its not legal at all.
anybody feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

personally, i'd rather have a child go to an adjusted gay couple, rather than an unstable hetero couple.

not saying hetero couples don't do a good job! :P

i'm just saying if you had to choose between those 2 circumstances...

i think its horrible for a gay couple to be denied a child solely on the basis that they are gay. that child who could have been adopted may just end up staying in foster care their whole life. not that anything is wrong with foster care, but i'd rather see a child with, as meggers stated, an adjusted gay couple, versus the possibility of the child jumping around in foster care while the state holds out for a hetero couple.

we need to just accept the way people are and get over ourselves..........

ignorance is often a factor in these adoption cases, i'm tired of the excues 'oh, they will pass their GAYNESS onto the children' ..such foolishness, i pray for the day when differences is fully respected

i completely agree. and how can you pass gayness on anyway. thats is totally ignorance. the only thing you would be passing on to your child is acceptance, not gayness.

If you want to protect the "family", and you allow homosexuals to adopt, then you have to allow them to get married. If marriage is supposed to exist to foster couples building families, how can you deny marriage to so many families?

exactly, it doesnt make sense. for as long as i've been alive, everyone has always said that a good structured family is a married couple with children. for years now, so many people have considered homosexuals unexceptable just for being gay. but on top of that, homosexuals are being denied marriage, thus making them a perfect example of a badly structured family if they choose to adopt children. its a lose, lose situation for them, and i admire any gay couple who chooses to adopt a child regardless of all the controversy surrounding it. it just makes them that much better than those who are denying them their rights

Yes, currently Florida is still the only state where it is illegal for a gay couple to adopt a child. But it IS legal for a single person to adopt a child here... So, it's okay to be unmarried, but not happily in love.

This state is so backwards, I can't wait to get out.

My partner and I are moving to California in August. :)
