Can't We All Just Get Along?

A personal story in the experience: I Support Gay Rights
I support homosexuality. does that make me gay? NO, it doesn't! People should be open about who they truly are, and others should not have a problem with it. Heterosexuals, homosexuals, and any other people with sexual preferences should all get along.  And besides, who's hurting who? I've never seen or even heard of a homosexual beating a heterosexual for being who they are.

"Homosexuality is god's way of birth control!!"

That is the best way to do it. It doesn't breed more crime or whatever. It is just a way to make two peoples lives a little better.

Why is it that when people say they support homosexuality, the first thing they say is, "It's not that I'm gay," If you accept it, why do you feel the need to clarify that? Not attacking you or anything, just wondering...

it's because most of the time that's the first thing people ask is whether or not i'm gay when i'm talking about supporting it.

There IS such a thing as being "straight, but not narrow." I have a number of friends who meet that description very well, and I am very glad to call them friends. If they are sometimes apologetic, it's because too many people instantly assume (you know "assume?!?" That's the word that puts an "***" in front of "U" and "ME"!!!) that anyone who is sympathetic to the GLBT community must be one, themselves or in the closet or some suchlike other foolishness.

I have been married to a man for the last 8 years, and we have 2 children. The problem is I still think about the woman I had a realtionship with 15 years ago. We do not see each other, she is married with children, but I still think about her daily. Why? Is it because she was my first love? I don;t just think about her, I believe I am still in love with her. It's not a passing thought. When I think about her I get that feeling in my gut. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

I try to support anyone to be whatever they choose to be or believe. I hope that people all over the world can learn that we are a world of differences and diversity and that is truly a wonderful thing.
But unfortunately I think what I wish for is actually wishfull thinking and that we are also mere humans full of judgements and fears.
But even saying that I'm feeling blessed that there is a place here on EP for open minded and genuine people who show kindness, understanding and the belief that everyone has a right to be heard!
