I Support the Rights of Homosexual People

A personal story in the experience: I Support Gay Rights
H aving been exposed to homosexuality since before I can remember is one of the best things that I believe has ever happened to me. My mom and dad have a gay friend whom, over the years, has gained the affectionate title of "Uncle." It is as though he is family and he is accepted by us.

My lesbian cousin recently married her girlfrend and I have never seen a happier couple. Even though it wasn't a legal marriage I believe that they have more chance of staying together than most couples.

I think people who are homophobic and hate homosexuals have a deeply rooted fear that they themselves are homosexuals. I believe that to deprive two people that love each other of the right to marry should be considered a crime.

Those who are homophobic need to learn how to accept people the way that they are because we are human and every human being is different. People who cannot accept this fact are not going to get very far in this diverse world.

Good points...homophobic people need to open their minds and stop seeing homosexuals as a threat.

Homosexuality is against the laws of God, and therefore against the laws of nature. God did not create Adam and Steve, He created Adam and Eve!

Think we may have to agree to disagree on that one...

Everybody is entitled to his/her own oppinion and I will not force anybody to believe what I believe in. I just felt it necesary to state my case.

I have no problem with other people and whatever makes them happy; yet I'll never support homosexuality myself because...well, to be strictly homosexual is denying your essential biology.

Homosexuality is here to stay
It's never going to go away
Yay.

Just my little ditty.
Great story Missy. It speaks for itself...and me of course. :P

dedre..i disagree in that it's denying your biology. Of COURSE we are who we are in way of biology....it's a given. It's only preference/innate feelings of who it is we love..even if it means the opposite sex or same sex. We cannot help who we love. And shouldn't "have" to. It goes against not religion anymore as much as just political incorrectness and the ever changing world/society. Even a lot of religion is out-dated....not fallen by the wayside. Just changing with the times....it's 2008. Open mindedness MUST prevail...not necessarily agreement, but at least acceptance.

Thank you for the compliments. =)
I feel much the same way about racism.

Re-reading my earlier post here, I fear I might have come off too aggressive, and chosen poor word usage.
I really could care less about one's sexual orientation; at most, I'd have a mental "aw shucks" if a hot chick is straight lesbian.
What I mean by denying biology is in regards to our purpose for life, biologically speaking: to have offspring and pass on our lineage; the fact that, barring outside assistance, a homosexual coupling sterilizes the chance of passing one's lineage.
I'm gonna stop posting here trying to defend what I said after this, as I like missymonkery and I don't wanna inadvertently get into a back-and-forth on one of her posts with others.
BTW missymonkery, congratulations to your cousin!
