Go Gryffindor!

Quidditch for those who don't know, is the sport played in the Harry Potter novels. Teams of seven players fly around on broomsticks between two sets of three circular goal posts. There are 3 types of balls: one 'quaffle,' used by 'chasers' for scoring goals; two 'bludgers', used by 'beaters' to knock people off their brooms, and one 'golden snitch,' the capture of which earns 150 points and ends the game. The snitch is sought by the 'seeker.'

Anyway, the Gryffindor team is the best of course, winning the Quidditch Cup three out of four times during the novels. (They were beaten to the Cup by Ravenclaw in the first book.) Harry Potter is a key player, but other Gryffindor players have included; Oliver Wood, Angelina Johnson, Katie Bell, Alicia Spinnet, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Ron Weasley, Jack Sloper, Andrew Kirke, Ginny Weasley, Cormac McLaggen, Dean Thomas, Demelza Robins, Ritchie Coote and Jimmy Peakes.

Gryffindor's biggest rivals are the Slytherins.

So put on your red and gold, (and your hat complete with roaring lion if you are Luna) and cheer for Gryffindor! You may also wish to sing "Weasley is our king!"

"Weasley is our king,

Weasley is our king,

He didn't let the quaffle in,

Weasley is our king!

Weasley can save anything,

He never leaves a single ring,

That's why Gryffindor's all sing,

Weasley is our king!"

Does anyone play Muggle Quidditch? I hear it exists.
