xactly two weeks ago... my son died in a horrible motorcycle wreck. He was 18. Two years earlier we had sat down and discussed the what ifs and he said he would donate his organs. On that day his brother, myself and my son signed our cards. When I saw him in the hospital on the ventilator, there was no question on what needed to be done. He wasnt my child .. he wanted to be the gift to 5 other people. My son was selfless, courageous, kind, friendly and noble. He never judged a stranger and always stopped to help one. When he was 15, he saved a 17 years old's life who arrested on the basketball court. He was my hero and my second born. He was the best friend to his brother and a good friend to many. We will miss him dearly but his heart will beat on in a young girl. His liver went to a fellow, his lungs to another fellow, and he was able to get two people off dialysis and give them back their lives.
I encourage everyone to consider signing their card... it is the greatest gift you could ever leave someone because all the money in the world cant keep the body living.
