Great, post, Annie. I didn't know that loophole about his children not paying gift tax that Romney has been able to take advantage of. The cards are stacked so much towards the very wealthy that it seems insurmountable, short of a mass raising of consciousness among the 99%.

His status has to be a huge issue in this campaign...I mean, come on! Imagine what history will think of us if we reward a member of the financial Masters of the Universe the Presidency after they raided our vaults in '08.

Beautiful! But how has this post not yet been attacked by the teabaggers? I guess they''ll wait till one of 'em sees it then pass it along to the others.

All the action on the Conservative side of EP nowadays is over in the He-Man Women Haters Groups.

Very informative. I'm reminded of the conservatives who always comment about people receiving grants and assistance from social programs as "getting money they didn't earn". Seems to me inheriting is NOT "earning", either---but they seldom mention that.

They might counter that their wealth is their property and their right to do with as they wish. Fine. But wealth is power as well, and when the power tilts too far toward too few people....society becomes very very unstable.

Not like this hasn't been going on for a couple of hundred years--just seems to be on the increase since Reagan. It's like we're returning to the days of the late 1800s Robber Barons. Next they'll be shooting union organizers.

Oh, Ernie. Its so sad the way that the real feeling of brother and sisterhood that use to exist among organized coworkers in the old days is completely gone. Sabotage, back stabbing, one upmanship, every one petrified to come out as a loser. Its the culture of the modern workplace in far too many industries. And the winners? These hedge fund guys, too darn smug for OUR own good! Where did the wealth of the nation go? Directly Into the pockets of people like Mitt Romney and Bain Capital!

In "right to work" states union organizers are fired and harassed. Private investigators and the police are today's thugs.

Private investigators and police were the thugs of union breaking in the early days, too.

    Good stuff, Annie.

Have you ever noticed how incredibly stingy some wealthy people are? Not when they are purchasing things for themselves, but when it comes to others. They are often careful to ask for two checks at a restaurant. Or present you with a receipt if they picked up something for you.

I guess that's how you get rich...hoard all your money!

Its true. People who value money the most tend to amass more of it. Fine. More power to them. I don't really care. But they shouldn't have special privledges. When their wealth generates income...tax it fully. When their wealth is passed on in estates or as gifts (!)and thus increases the recepient's income....tax it fully again. None of this whining about how it was already taxed. Money is fungilbe, my wages are taxed and that exact same money is taxed again when I buy things or pay my property and state taxes. The rich are different only in that they cheat with straight faces

Their cheating comes with a strong sense of entitlement.
