I Like to Think It's a Sign of Sanity....to An Extent

I very often talk to myself. Which I can assure you drives my fiance mad since he's often unsure if I'm talking to him or not.

My Mom always used to tell me, in regards to talking to herself, "Well at least I'll get an intelligent response". I always loved quip. I hope she was right more often then not...then again it was only her that would know.

It just seems that when you say the words out loud, getting them out of the rambling confusion of your mind, they just make sense. Or possibly make less sense. I can't count how many times I've thought something sounded like a great idea but as soon as the words left my mouth I realized just how silly it really was.

As a writer I find this extremely useful. You simply must read your own words aloud. It's amazing how much sense something seems to make when you've written down but the moment you verbalize it you realize just how much of an uneducated boob you sound like. Of course that may just be me and my uneducated boobiness.

Reading out loud was the favored writing tip of many of my English teachers.
