I'm Not A Teacher, But I Teach Chemistry

I'm sixteen, I'm a high school student, and I'm not a teacher nor am I planning to become one. That hasn't stopped me from helping my classmates (and anybody else, really) with chemistry homework/stuff. I really enjoy teaching people chemistry because it's one of the few times I can talk about chemistry without boring everyone in a 50km radius to death.

Teaching pet peeve: On the IGCSEs, sometimes they ask you to draw an ester from given monomers. My teaching pet peeve is when people try to memorise every single ester in our textbook so they can answer the question. I don't like it when people try to memorise something that can be understood with very little effort. Especially for something like this which is difficult and impractical to memorise.

Teaching: I mostly help my classmates with their homework or I help them study for tests. They mostly email me for help, although some of them approach me in person. I have a chemistry blog that nobody at all reads, but I keep it for fun. Eventually, I might put some curriculum-related chemistry resources on the blog, at the moment, I haven't, because the blog is meant to be entertaining and informative, and not meant to be a study guide. I'll think about it. That's mostly all I've done as far as teaching chemistry. I don't get paid and I don't spend a great deal of time doing it, but I do enjoy it a lot.

You are brilliant :)

Not really, but I try. :-) Thank you!

Well ~ you try brilliantly :)

Haha. Why, thank you.

What's your blog called?

lavoisierslab.wordpress.com, but I haven't updated it in more than a year. I should probably do that, but I've been busy lately. Thanks for the reminder.

chemistry is a fun class to take,i thoroughly enjoyed it

It's also a fun class to teach. Glad to hear you liked it. Unfortunately too many of my classmates don't (through no fault of my chemistry teacher... he's great... they just don't like the class).
