What People Do To Feel Accepted

I tend to let people use me is kind of an understatement for me. I almost always put myself in situations where I get used because for that moment in time I am "accepted" I don't have very high self esteem and I never meant for it to get so out of hand that I'd resort to this, but I have and I did. How do you stop bad habits, they usually die  hard.
