A Bit About Me: My Story So You Can Get To Know Me Better

I was blessed with many challenges that equipped me to accomplish the goal of leaving a lasting mark on this earth and changing the world one person at a time. I will give you the Reader’s Digest version of the amazing adventure.

As a child my Father was my world and I was blessed to have him for 12 wonderful years, even though he fought cancer on and off over those years, boy did we cram in life when he was well. After his death my grieving Mother married a man who was a mentally ill raging drug addict and alcoholic and who mentally, physically and sexually abused me for years. Around the age of 15 I was raped and later nearly sexually assaulted again at 21 but fortunately I escaped. After a series of events of sexual harassment and stalking culminating with near rape I decided that I would get so fat that no man would ever look at me like a piece of meat again. I put on over 50 pounds that year. For many years I struggled with insecurity and weight issues ballooning to over 280 pounds on my petite 5 feet 0 inches frame. I went through bouts of depression, suicide attempts and finally was treated for PTSD after leaving an abusive marriage which completely broke my spirit. All the destruction to my health that living with so much stress, a series of injuries, autoimmune diseases and excess weight forced me to stop and get help mentally and physically dealing with my challenges. It took years of hard work but I am so grateful for all the experiences that brought me to where I am now.

I graduated from College with degrees in Education and Psychology. For over 20 years I worked with diverse populations such as Women from Prison, Mentally Ill adults and at-risk Youth. I strove to help them improve their lives though teaching and counseling wanting so badly to make a difference. My own life was a train wreck but I poured myself out trying to empower others when I myself was not yet empowered.

I have spent the better part of the last 10 years in recovery. I can now say that I want to take everything I have learned that has turned my life completely around to change the world. Now I am truly living an inspired empowered life. I live from my authentic self and love who I am. I still have hurdles to overcome but I am more than a survivor I am a victor. I choose not to be a victim anymore. I have chosen to see the blessings in the struggles. As Anthony Robbins says, “Life does not happen to you it happens for you.”

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” Maria Robinson

I recently graduated from an amazing coaching program. I am pursuing my writing, public-speaking and coaching goals with all my heart. I believe it is my purpose to help those who are in pain, darkness or fear to find the light and joy through love. I have become a powerful coach and want to work with women who have spent their lives giving away their power. I want to teach them how to take it back and live a life of passion and purpose. I also want to help empower people with disabilities as someone who struggles with many serious physical challenges daily. I understand how discouraging and hopeless it can feel. But there is a way to live the life you dreamed of. I am here to help you find your way.
