I Think All Guns Should Have Titles Just Like Automobiles

Today you can buy a gun anywhere at anytime without anyone knowing about it. This includes the assault rifles in the news today. I support the right to bear arms if you want them but the constitution does say say "A Well Regulated Militia".
It is easier to track a 1960 Nash Rambler then any gun in America. Why because their is no way to know if a criminal, serial killer or some flake with issues has bought one. If guns were titled or pink-slipped like automobiles it would be known where all these guns are going. All guns come serial numbers and can be traced initially from a dealer but if the owner sells it nothing is known and if it changes hands many times who knows where it will wind up or who has it that shouldn't not have it. There are more guns out there then automobiles yet we regulate them. Possession of a unregistered/ titled gun should also be a felony of the 5th degree.

    This is a double edged sword. Oppps I said I would touch this! :) What is a well regulated militia? Was the intent of the second amendment written so that the government Knew of and could acquire your weaponry should they feel that there is an uprising against a tyrannical government? No, "Well Regulated" is for the intent to create a muster of individuals under logical and with in some regulations (so as to prevent vigilantism). When in doing so the acquirement of men and arms should be put in place and communicated within the ranks of those men. And the need for weaponry that will thwart the threat of a tyrannical governments oppressive behavior. A well regulated militia could not do this unless they had available to them to regulate arms necessary for doing such.
    It has nothing to do with a government providing regulations for militia to comply with to overthrow that government. The power of the people can not me circumvented. Regulation of weaponry incrementally disrupts the power of the people to check the power of the government. Your first amendment rights are protected by your ability to use force if needed to guarantee that right. This had not changed, and never should.
    Now to the point, what do we do about gun violence in this country? Lots, Lets try holding people responsible for their actions rather then letting them off the hook. Lets look at single parents, lets look at the lack of a moral compass, lets look at the mockery we make of authority and the mockery authority makes of it self. The reason gun violence has increased has nothing to do with the gun, it has to do with the person welding that gun and being disconnected from the morality of life and the consequences that should be brought upon an individual who would do such an evil act.
    We have an astronomical amount of gun law and regulation in our country now and it has not changed anything expect left honest law abiding citizens in fear of loosing their constitutional right to protect themselves from intruders and the government.

    Yes there is a huge problem in this country.. lets talk about that, and not the item that is an easy target.

      Then problem is one state does this another that, there needs to be a uniformity in gun regulations. Like today all traffic tickets are now uniform, other then the violation code number they are the same. If more were uniformly applied then the use and spread of guns would remain but regulated.

      The reason that we are a United States is to allow states to have different laws which allow the populous who doesn't like one state and it's laws to move to another state and those laws. I can not move across state lines without being in compliance with those states. If a "State" desires stricter gun laws they have that right. The federal government has limited powers over states and that is a provision of the constitution. and set up for good reason. I can not carry my weapons between state line with out being in jeopardy of that state.

    I just totally agree.

    What really yanks my chain is that so many "intelligent" citizens are so willing to be so horribly ripped off by the gun sellers, laughing at these dumb idiots all the way to the bank. Wow! What a racket! Scare the be-Jesus out of the masses about how the evil black President is "gonna" take away your guns and ammo, and well I have a few here that I will cut you a deal on. Like, this $365.00 assault rifle that I can sell you for only $2200.00 cash, no questions asked!

    That just happened last Saturday at a local gun show here! What a profit! And none of these "intelligent" Americans have bothered to read the law and exactly what "powers" ANY president has and does not have! What idiots!
