I've posted many times about my love and respect for the goddess so I won't repeat myself.

I do want to say, though, that we should all respect everyone. I hold doors open for everyone, men and women. I'm not sure about the seat thing. Sometimes I do and sometimes not. I do think some of the old-fashioned "chivalrous" customs border on demeaning and I think they are meant that way to keep women "in their place."

    Peace and Love for all.

levin you are so right. boys in the south are taught early about respect toward women. my husband was teaching my son about openning doors and such from the age of four on.

and you are right the south is a very different place with things such as this and teaching kids manners. yes mam and yes sir are the rule.

yet women who make men feel small for being respectful are only hurting all women and their daughters.

bitlord is right in that women need to respect men for being women and allow them to be men. the women's movement has ******** them of the right to be men and has done nothing but increase volience against women.

I'm old fashioned and feel there are just some things and places a woman should not be. we are made women and men for a reason and the more women become more like men the less respect they will receive.

I open doors for women, get up to give them my seat on the bus, try to be "old style" polite. But you know what? There are women who put me down when I do that. I've had women tell me they were perfectly capable of opening their own doors. That's usually when I travel up north. I'm from the Gulf Coast in Alabama. Its a given here that we hold the door for women, allow them to go first into a business, etc. But that's just the way us southern dummies are.

Bitford above says earn the respect - I disagree - I will respect women until they earn my disrespect.
