I Volunteer My Time Helping Other By

I HAD POSTED AN AD ON CRAIGLIST LOOKING FOR OTHER  WHEELCHAIR INDEPENDENTS WHO WANT, NEED OR COULD USE A FRIEND TO TALK TO, GO SHOPPING, MOVIES OR JUST TO HANG OUT.
I WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE WHO NEEDS HELP ADJUSTING TO A NEW LIFE AS A WHEELCHAIR INDEPENDENT. FOR ME I FEEL LUCKY TO HAVE A WHEELCHAIR, THAT WOULD TAKE ME WHERE I WANTED TO GO. I LOVE MY CHAIR, I LOVE THE FREEDOM I HAVE TO GO WHERE EVER I WANTED. BEFORE I GOT MY MOTORIZED WHEELCHAIR I HAD ALMOST 7 MONTHS CRAWLING ON MY HANDS AND KNEES I COULDN'T  EVEN LEAVE THE HOUSE TO VISIT FRIENDS OR GO SHOPPING,
I NO LONGER COULD WALK. THIS WAS THE WORST 7 MONTHS OF MY LIFE. IT WAS HELL.
BUT I MUST SAY IN ALL OF THIS HELL I HAD LEARN TO WORK AROUND IT AND YES IT WAS HARD BUT I  MADE IT.
SO TO ME, BEING IN THE WHEELCHAIR WAS LIKE A SECOND CHANCE IN LIFE. AND A WHOLE NEW COMPLETE LIFE ADJUSTMENTS . LIKE WEARING EXTRA layerS OF CLOTHING WHEN YOU TRAVEL IN A WHEELCHAIR IN THE WINTER.
ALWAYS LOOKING FOR RAMPS, I NOTICE BEING IN A WHEELCHAIR WHILE PULLING OUT THERE ARE A LOT OF BLIND SPOTS YOU CAN'T SEE WHEN CROSSING THE STREET, MAKING THIS VERY DANGEROUS FOR US WHEELCHAIR INDEPENDENTS.
LEARNING TO DRIVE YOUR WHEELCHAIR WELL IS IMPORTANT. THIS IS A MUST. LIKE PRACTICE A LOT BEFORE GOING OUT THIS WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE A LITTLE EASIER. OF COURSE SOME PERDICAMENTS WERE QUITE FUNNY WHILE SOME WHERE NOT.
BUT ALL IN ALL I AM STILL ME, I FEEL LIKE ME, I DON'T FEEL ANY DIFFERENT FOR MOST OF THE TIME.
I LOVE LIFE AND ENJOY LIFE EVERY DAY LIKE IT WAS MY LAST DAY..
