Revolting

Bullfighting is monumentally cruel, with most 'fights' usually concluding with the death of the bull by a sword thrust. It is synonymous with Spain, but is also, to their shame, practiced in Portugal, Southern France and also in Tamil Nadu, India.

There is a small ray of hope. On 18thDecember 2009 the parliament of Catalonia approved the preparation of a Law to ban bullfighting in Catalonia, after a petition was handed in that contained more than 180,000 signatures. Other towns in the Catalonia region are also considering bans.

Nothing as yet has happened. It's a start but nothing more.

I know, Laurie, they sicken me. How the hell can you get pleasure from cruelty?
Thank you both for your comments.
silkpantygirl, I focused on bullfighting simply because of the group's title, but of course I find the activities you mention equally repulsive. In my area of the world, both **** fighting and dog fighting are surreptitiously indulged in, as is badger baiting and, despite the half hearted ban, fox hunting is rearing its ugly head again.
bubblegum84, yes I've seen that with the chickens too. In Spain there is also the sick ritual of goat tossing, which occurs every year on the fourth Sunday in January in the small town of Manganeses de la Polvorosa, in honour of St Vincent de Paul, their patron saint. It involves a young man who finds a goat in the village, ties it up, and takes it to the top of the local Church belfry. He then tosses the goat over the side and it falls 50 feet where it is (hopefully) caught by villagers holding up a sheet of tarpaulin. I feel sick writing it.
I am not picking on Spain per se, no country is innocent in animal cruelty. I despise anyone who inflicts pain on animals.
I was watching a documentery about bullfighting in Spain and they don't just stop at killing bulls. The was a bit where a guy was riding on a horse and there was a load of chickens being tied up upsidedown and he literally pulled their heads off as he was riding down. This is a vile, sick entertainment where clearly the cultural differences are exceedingly warped, it very norm depending on what part of Spain you go to. They have to be one of the worst countries that abuses animals aswell as China.

Fighting "ONLY Bulls" ???
HOW "about" **** (Rooster) Fighting ?
AND Dog Fighting ?
"These" so-called 'Sports' EXIST TOO.
