I Think Children Are Growing Up Too Fast
The clothes children wear are disposable; whatever it is they grow out of it within a week. There’s always an endless supply of either new or handed down replacements from friends and family to replace the discarded, but it would still be better if they didn't grow up so fast.
My loft is full of children’s clothes in boxes from my own children. Now, added to it, are the first two years’ worth of stuff from my grandson; this time in vacuum suctioned packs. I risked life and limb pushing it up the stepladder of doom; stacked them near the mousetrap, the barbies, the books… the mass of pink and mauve plastic stuff I couldn’t even tell you what it was. The cots, the bits of car seats, noisy stuff.
Apparently no one knows when any of it will come in handy. Or perhaps one day someone will reminisce about it.
