I hear so many blaming EP but what about the "ignorant" people who pretend they didn't know? Or the people who have been blocked and made aware but return under a different name displaying the same or worse? It's pathetic and annoying. There are more members to staff and I just don't understand the reasoning behind who's to blame. The one to blame is the one who ignores everyone else to get a laugh at everyone's expense.

I wonder why EP doesn't just give their members the power to control what to see or not. They could check out the avatars that are blocked by us and determine if someone is in violation themselves. This would do away with each members idea of good or bad. There are companies online which are supposed to monitor such activities like that already. I have heard EP Staff mention that or I thought they did.

Parents should be monitoring their children when they are on the internet. I monitor my children constantly and if I can, so can other parents.

My children know the rules of the computer. Do not add people you don't know, do not talk to people you don't know, and always check with mom or dad when unsure of anything on the internet.

I get that not all parents are like this, but I think if they even tried, it would show their children how much they care about them. My kids tried to sign up on a kids site once, and the parents HAD to give permission. They HAD to supply the parent's email. An email was sent to the parents, and it had to be activated by the parent. Maybe that is the way to go - even though I know there are ways around it with the smart kids out there these days.

I just think that an ounce of precaution on the parent's part, eliminates a pound of cure needed for our kids!

We will, ultimately, be asking just who polices the police! Moderation is a subjective occupation. No two people will moderate the same group in the same way. Do EP supporters get mod access, for example? Paid moderators will mean that all of us have to support EP financially; a form of moderation in itself. I agree that the site does need controls. But at the same time, the freedom which many users love (and respect) may well be sacrificed in the process. It's a tricky one and no mistake.

    Moderators are a definite must..

Though choice of Moderators is important ...as well as how extensive their "powers" would be...

It is not IRC....but it is no MSN either...

The problem, as stated by some above, is that any kid can get on any adult site simply by typing in a false birth date. I think it falls on those responsible for the children to monitor and moderate at home, and if there are inappropriate pictures/content on EP then, just like any other site, it should be blocked (by the parent).

As far as "inappropriate" avatars and what not, I don't think I have come across too many...and I simply click away from what I find offensive. The only think I have ever flagged on EP was a post from someone trying to sell their kindey, which I am sure is not legal and I thought was wildly inappropriate...other than that, live and let live is my motto.

It is easy to apply common sense. Topics of an adult nature, be that in terms of the language used or the subject matter, can be flagged as being unsuitable for minors. That same common sense is used to vet those I communicate with. I engage in adult conversations with all sorts of people. None of whom have an avatar showing genitalia. So how come others just happen to stumble upon these images?

    Excellent point, WiB....

FSG....I was forced to remove my avatar (you can check it out in my photos), that I considered (along with most others) to be a tasteful nude..who makes that determination???

Tricky one FSG ... I don't know how you effectively monitor without getting too heavy ... explicit avatars don't bother me as such but then I'm an adult ... but they shouldn't be on view to children ...

How do you stop children joining pretending to be adult though?
