It Does!

I must confess I've been thinking waaay too much about canceling my FB account, and that's not only because it makes me depressed! It's also because I've already got on arguments with my boyfriend for lame reasons, such as so-and-so leaving comments and likes on my pics or status updates.

Besides, only 2 or 3 friends comment the stuff I post on my wall...then some random guy updates his status to something like "I'm going to walk my dog" and gets 30 likes? it's depressive and certainly not good for my social anxiety issues, for I'm starting to think that I'm the only one who find this or that worth reading, and so I'd better read it myself without sharing.

Oh, and lets not mention the "greener grass on the other side" feeling I experience when I get to know that people my age are getting married, having children and starting successful carers - and partying a lot. I almost forget that I already share a home with a wonderful boyfriend (who brings flowers at least once a month) and an amazing cat...and that I haven't finished my degree yet because I had to battle depression for 3 years, and I successfully did it.

So, that's it...I feel better here on EP :)

Facebook should be changed to Fabrication Book! Hey, everyone look at how wonderful my dreary little corner of the world is!

It also depresses the hell out of me. You look for people to interact with on there, and then there's no interaction. Go out and meet with the people you want to, call your friends, throw a party. F@%$ FB!

I totally agree! I find it strange that people feel the need to take pictures of everything they are doing. I mean when I go out to eat with friends, I don't say, "hey, lets take a picture!" Or if I go to a bar, I don't take out my camera and start flashing pictures of me with each and every person there. Most people I know would say, "That's lame, I don't want my picture taken." It is almost like, they need to take a picture to validate that theyI really did something fun and they have to post it on FB so everyone will see how fun they have in their life! I can see taking pictures of holidays or special occasions, but not every dang time you go out! If it weren't for seeing my grandkids pictures, I would delete the dumb account. I am a regular person, with many blessings in life, but my life is not perfect and I suffer from life's stresses from time to time, I don't like going on FB and having to experience a feeling of "inadequacy" or like life is passing me by, from being bombarded with pictures and postings of how wonderful so-and-so's life is on a daily freaking basis. I bet if people knew the truth, their life would not be half as perfect as they want others to believe it is!

Yes we all need to step back away from facebook and open our eyes to our surroundings and appreciate what we have.

Peronally i think FB is rubbish and a complete waste of time. i mean if your REAL friends want to know what your doing or want to talk they'll call and ask you what your upto and how things are going. I really dont see the point in publishing your everyday habits, feel exactly the same about twitter too just another way to waste time.

I don't know what's the point of twitter either...why would I follow someone or have someone following me, knowing every step I take? Too "stalkish" for me!

I completely agree Nelia, for some reason society has become obsessed with celebrities and love knowing every little and useless info about what they're upto, i ask myself why and just think they must really have shallow empty lives.

I can relate with you on this subject. I find I only have a few people here and there that may bother to leave a comment on Facebook. But what seems to depress the **** out of me the most, is I can't seem to help myself snooping on other peoples pages. For some reason I have this urge to want to know everyone's business. For instance, people I used to talk to, then I get jealous or envious of what their doing. Which is stupid because my life is pretty damn good, and I could really careless if I ever hung out with those people again, but I can seem to help myself. I totally get you :)

I feel the same exact way. I find myself snooping through peoples business and then feeling bad. Then I feel like it takes me away from the real life things that i need to be tending to. ugh.
