Best High School Friends

So me and my best guy friend met only about a year ago. My friend introduced me to him and since then we have been best friends. Throughout our friendship, he dated my best friend and two other girls that I don't talk to, mainly because they don't go to the same school as me and him. I helped him through all of his break-ups and I have always been there for him and he has been there for me. We hang out all the time, every week, sometimes even more than once. And we don't do anything. There is hugging and talking and holding hands but that is it. We have never kissed or gone any further than hugging. Since I didn't have a boyfriend at the time, I asked him to prom and he said yes. After going to prom together back in May and having slow danced and the talking and the whole night, I fell for him. Since prom I think I have been in love with him. I was in love with him anyways because he was my best friend. But not it is more. I'm starting senior year and he is starting his junior year so after this year, we probably won't see each other for a while. And I was hoping that something could happen before I left for college. Should I just come clean and tell him? Or should I wait until he says something and then go from there? I just need help. I was never the one to make the first move so I don't know whether or not to do it now. I just want a good relationship with my best friend and I don't want our friendship to come to an end if we happen to go out and have a bad break up. I want to keep this friendship for a long time and I don't know how to do it. Please help.

In my life I have just one person that I can truly call "my Best friend". We meant in Junior High school. For some reason in junior high school no one liked me.I was just there for my senior year,(because I had to transfer from my last junior high school because of similar problems)That year alone I was transferred from about three different classes, got arrested(for something I didn't do),and in the end finally find myself in an ESL class. The class I wound up in had a lunch period at a different time then everyone one else. No one in that class liked me either, and come lunch I had no one to talk to.So I just left our table and wondered over to the 7th grade tables. There I started to a boy.We got to talking and found that we had a lot in common, found out that we lived very close to each other, and then exchanged phone numbers.I was one year older then him,and would be graduating before him.In my mind I figured"Well it was good while it lasted"Then got the shock of my life when he actually did call me,and one day came over to my house.Long story short, sometimes in life all you really need is that one good friend who you know that you can depend on.I found mine and we have been friends for about 5-6 years and our still going strong.
