I Think Kids Say the Cutest Things
The grandkids were over. The 6 year old goes out and sits on the porch. That's our favorite place to go and talk about life and stuff.
She's puffed up like a big frog and has her chin in her hands so something's wrong. I sit down next to her and wait. After a bit she sighs.
"You wanta tell me about it?" I ask. She shifts around a little and finally says "Carly likes Bobby." I jump right in and ask "Who's Bobby?" She says "Bobby, at my school." They're first graders. "He's in your class?" I ask. "Yes." "And Carly is in your class?" "Yes." "Do you like Bobby?" I keep on. "Not any more." She huffs. Life just isn't fair. I wait a little bit and ask "Do we need some ice cream?" She seems to be thinking...."yeah".
