Because Sometimes A New Friend Reminds You Of Something

Hello everyone!

As a few of you know the last few weeks have been a roller coaster ride of sorts for me, but it seems the ride is coming to an end and the peaks and valleys have begun to level out. Today, today in particular, has been a really wonderful day. In fact, I've been having the most enjoyable day I've had in quite sometime.

My day has been filled with fun, and funny, and insightful and irreverently intelligent conversations with friends, both old and new. One of those friends, a rather new and charming acquaintance, and I have been having a conversation that spanned a few different topics. The most recent part of which included old movies, in particular westerns and the country life. They "spoke" of a desire to live in the country and learn old fashioned skills,  learn how to live off the land so to speak. Live the type of life where you have to work hard, and deal with the un-expected everyday and how we seem to have lost an appreciation for those things that were once essential, how we take that which we now have forgranted . I can understand that. I agree with it even.

I grew up as a small town, country girl on a farm and as most of you who I've come to call my friends know, I tend to be a bit "old-fashioned" in my tastes and tendencies. I believe in being feminine and dressing up when you go out. I think men should be charming and genuine, true gentlemen if you will, who treat women with respect and kindness. I consider knowing how to cook a proper meal and bake a loaf of bread to be skills that everyone should cultivate. I esteem those people who bother to remember their manners and be kind to strangers.

I could go on, but this post is not about all of that. What it is about is a song. Our conversation reminded me of a song I like and had forgotten about. The song reminds me of the country and old fashioned things (it makes sense to me, the connection is there in my brain, stop fighting it, just go with it :-P).  So thank you dear friend for sparking that memory within my neurones. I share it with all of you now andI hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Cups (You're Gonna Miss Me)
By: Lulu and the Lampshades

I've got my ticket for long way 'round
Two bottles of whisky for the way
And I sure would like some sweet company
Oh, I'm leaving tomorrow, what do you say?

When I'm gone, When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me everywhere, oh
you're gonna miss me when I'm gone

(*4 CUP)

I've got my ticket for the long way 'round
The one with the prettiest view

It's got mountains
it's got rivers
It's got woods to give you shivers
But it sure would be prettier with you

When I'm gone, When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

You're gonna miss me by my walk
You'll miss me by my talk,
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

I got my ticket for the long way 'round
These feet weren't build to stay too long
And, I got out on my own
But, you'll miss me when you're home

It's for you that I just sang this song
When I'm gone, When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me everywhere
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

When I'm gone, When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You'll miss me by my talk, oh

You're gonna miss me when I'm gone.

Tis always nice to make a new friend.

Indeed it is. Though spending time with cherished older ones is just as lovely.

I'm not THAT old. :-)

*giggles*

I meant old as in have known for longer. Silly man. :-P

Sometimes I wish I had longer hair. Just so it's easier for me to leave my mark at certain places. Plus... I'd look crazy good with longer hair.

...anywho, yeah, I can dig it. This song can be applied in just a certain situation of mine. But hey, I'm having way too fun with the clapping and that foot stomping (At least it sounds like that) in the song.

*laughing again trying to picture you with long hair*

Anyhoo, lol, no ... not foot stomping. Cups. Thus the name of the song, lol. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWCOYJg9ps4

Ah! Got it! The one on the left with the short black hair... sizzling. Yeow. ::Growls::

And I did have long hair in a wig but I looked like an extra in a Heavy Metal band. I'll wait until I can get a better wig and then post it up. I'll need some very observational folks to take note once that is done :)

Such a cute growl you have there!
