I Learned My Lesson, Again.

I was raised in a home where manner's were very important. After I grew up and had children of my own they too were taught manner's.
One day we stopped by the shop my parent's ran to say hello and visit. I was talking to somone and off to the side heard my mother call my name and with out thinking said " what ". Now the top of my mother's head just reach's my shoulder's. In nothing flat and in front of my children, momma shot out from behind that counter, got toe to toe with me, looked me right in the eye while point her finger at me and said. Young man dont you ever think that you are too big or too old that I cant reach that mouth of your's, you were taught better. Well even though I was fighting back from giggling " which I knew better then to do at that point " I said yes ma'am, sorry momma.

I knew my children had seen and heard what just happened and they just stood there smiling. It did me more damage to know that my mother had to correct me in front of them for doing somthing that I had taught them not to do then anything in a long time. For the first time I felt a little smaller in their eye's. It never happened again, to this day when my mother call's my name, I am sure to answer MA'AM. Because she can still reach my mouth. I learned my lesson, again. She should not have had to remind me. Love You Momma.
