I Think People Forget the Beauty In Everyday Life
You arrive at the beach welcomed by clear-blue skies and wisps of feathery clouds high above. It is balmy and pleasant, your warm flesh lightly cooled by the ocean breezes. As you begin your walk toward the omnipotent Sea, the bottom of your feet feel the graininess of the hot sand, and this encourages you to speed up your pace to that glittering place where the sun is iridescent off the waves.
The scents of salty drafts infuse your nose and lungs with memories of youth streaming through your consciousness. Bending down you scoop up the warm sand and let if flow through your fingers; many eye-catching shells and colored rocks adorn the landscape. The gulls, high above, make their ancient calls and you watch them drop snails onto the pavement of the parking lot.
As your warm feet make contact with the somewhat cool water, you sigh with relief as you know you can vacillate between the water, and beach sand as you deem sensible.
You trek along the shoreline while taking a leisurely pace- soaking in every moment and immersing all your senses with heightened awareness betwixt in your heavenly slice on Earth.
Along you go varying your walk with wades in the now warmer water while weaving amid the sands; you spy a gray object which does not resemble the other strewn rocks.
You dig it out and pick up what appears to be an ancient arrowhead. It is in pristine condition and you reminisce about what it might have been like 10,000 years ago hunting for seals and other larger fish with arrowheads like the one in your possession.
Turning back to your car you contemplate how your simple excursion turned into a treasure hunt. You decide to return tomorrow with a metal detector; who knows what lies buried in the sands of time...
