My Parents

Both of my parents are recently retired treachers. My mother taught for 40 years. During that 40 years she took short breaks to have 2 sons and took a year sabbatical during which she worked on her PhD.

My Father taught off and on for those same 40 years. My most vivid momory of my father happened when I was about 10. After what I am guessing was a hard day of teaching, the 4 of us were eating dinner. Just about out of the blue, my father said, "Only a ******* ******* would want to be a teacher!"

I told that story to people and they replied that they can think of teachers who had that philosophy.
