Here We Go Again . . .
The republicans have just voted down an extension of the payroll tax cuts mainly because they don’t want the top ten percent of earners to pay a fair share. Instead, they proposed a bill that would pay for the tax cuts by slashing 200,000 jobs from the government. This is something the tea party would love to see even though it would hurt 200,000 people all at once. Of course democrats would never vote for such a bill and the republicans knew that going in. Funny thing is that most of the republicans voted down the bill as well. That tells you how ridiculous this bill is.
The bottom line is that the government WILL NOT support the middle class, instead catering to the rich. So, if your not making at least a few million dollars, you’ve been put on notice by congress that they don’t support you, they don’t work for you and they could care less about you.
Now comes an interesting point. When they were debating letting the Bush tax cuts for the rich expire while leaving them in place for the middle class, the republicans called that raising taxes. So essentially, the republicans have decided to raise taxes on the middle class.
Huh, I thought they were against raising taxes. So by their own admission it is now OK to raise taxes so long as it’s only on the middle class. So I would have to wonder. Why would anyone vote for ANY republican in the upcoming elections. From some comments I’ve seen from around the country, it looks like the republicans in one simple move may have just placed a whole ton of votes into the Obama camp that might not have otherwise been there.
The same old arguments just don’t work anymore. It’s time for our government to join the 21st century and stop living in the past. Rather, they should study the past before it’s to late. They should see that they are performing the same old mistakes of before and get busy on what they were elected for. Taking care of ALL the people.
To hell with Grover Norquist! He’s not even an elected official and yet he and his little organization is attempting to hold the country hostage because of his ridiculous tax pledges that the republicans signed. Bottom line is that if they truly cared about doing the job they were elected for instead of worrying about the next election then perhaps they could get off their dead ***** and DO something productive for a change. And that last statement pertains to the democrats as well.
