I was never the last one standing in the spelling bee. I thought spelling was more closely related to visual perception and memory of letters rather than intelligence. At least that's what I keep reassuring myself....she says...struggling to install spell check on her internet server.

SG, great response to your story alleging Tea party member stupidity, a favorite of libs to call conservatives dumb. That's why I enjoy employing a pedantic writing style, courtesy of my LIBERAL arts education at the top college in the country.

You must know that posters here don't often acquit themselves admirably with proper syntax and diction.

Since when does spelling constitute intelligence. I have two close friends who are awful with grammar and spelling. One had a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, the other is a Pulmonologist.

(BTW - a pulmonologist is a doctor who specializes in treatment of the lungs).

Anyhow, calling the Tea Party a bunch of idiots is exactly the sort of garbage you can expect from the left. Since you cannot argue with being fiscally responsible, the only thing left is name calling. Villifying the enemy. And it's right there on page 56 of the Communist Manifesto.

I'm not calling anti-Tea Party folk communists. Quite the contrary. But trashing the Tea Party because you have no reasonable argument against them is definitely a communist tactic.

Recently, Al Gore was interviewed about Global Warming. He suggested that anyone disagreeing with his position on Global Warming is racist. Of course, Al and his chronies are they now calling it climate change, since recent evidence shows the world is actually cooling.

Here is a classic issue, where science is no longer supporting Fat Albert's bigger, and fatter wallet. The earth is 4 billion years old. Scientific evidence shows the earth has always had natural warming and cooling trends - long before homo sapiens stood on two legs. The scientific models supporting the Global Warming theory are based on data over a 20-30 year time period. Twenty to 30 years, out of 4 billion!!! Is anyone out there stupid enough to believe that 20-30 years of data is statistically sufficent to draw such a broad conclusion?? Apparently so, cause Fat Albert is sure getting rich off this one.

Yep - keep ripping the Tea Party. Those evil racists are going to overheat the world!!! Fat Albert says so, and therefore it must be true.

At first I truly believed the whole Tea Party movement was a very cleverly devised distraction, but then their mouthpieces started getting media attention and even getting people elected. By the time the caucuses started forming I had to accept that it was a real movement. Now that it is, bad spelling and all--I find that I am sort of glad they are here.

The more they congregate and talk about the issues the better it is for all of us. And the fact that we all disagree means that at least we are making progress. I don't agree with very much that they claim to stand for but that does not mean that I do not appreciate the opportunity to disagree, and frankly I love that as a nation we are all talking about this stuff. The real enemy of progress is apathy.

So--they are out there with their tea bag hats and their misspelled signs, and as someone here mentioned--everyone is writing a book these days about what is so wrong about the other side's arguments; I wouldn't have it any other way. We have 17 months to verbally duke it out before the election. Here goes nothing...

Are you saying this is beyond the realm of possibilities? As a matter of fact, organized leftists like "Act Out" and "Code Pink" do this as part of their normal operation (especially the former) to disrupt any discussion they do not agree with.

not EVERY idea that libertarians have is wrong. There's actually several of Ron Paul's positions that I agree with, concerning foreign and monetary policy. But overall, the big picture is that the heart of libertarian thought can be summed up by Ayn Rand's positions, and her individualistic utopia is absurd. okay, now everyone lift themselves up out of poverty by their own bootstraps, on the count of 3!

I'm not a democrat, I am far too much of a socialist to do much more than tolerate them, but in our silly 2 party system, i'm forced to choose between dumb democrats and dumber republicans.

I'm still curious what I had in my previous post that inspired you to say it was ignorant. Please elaborate, that should be fun.

Libertarians, neo-conservatives, tea party folks.... all of them so badly misinformed that it nearly defies description. If we had followed their recommendations over the past century.... my god. If you think the country is screwed up now (which it IS), then try to imagine how bad things would be if there were no Social Security, no Medicare, no Medicaid, no Federal Highway system, no FDA or truth in labeling, no minimum wage, no child labor laws, no legal abortions, no FMLA.... and no taxes on the rich. Zero taxes on the rich is what they are shooting for, and what they are inching towards. Under Eisenhower (the last sane Republican president worthy of admiration), rich people were allowed to make several million a year, but all fhe money past a certain threshold (around 2 million/year) was taxed at 90%. Reagan and Bush and the current conservative yahoos in congress have chipped away at that, promising that lowering the top marginal tax rates on the rich would magically create a booming economy and great job growth. Is everyone enjoying this current 'booming' economy?

lol, they are ridiculous, and their arguments hold no weight. They are fun to laugh at, though!

OMG...I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself! This confirms for me how Dubya managed to get himself elected twice.

Now I am panicking! What if the intelligent people give up again and don't bother to vote?

We must have a plan of action! Let's tell "THEM" that there is a Nascar race/Bill O'Reilly/Banjo-pickin concert/ALL-U-CAN-EAT BBQ happening and then we can sneak off and vote.

Furthermore, we can assure them that we are headed to the Art Museum/library/ballet/health food/Barnes&Noble Fitness Day Spa just to throw them off, which can't be all that hard to do.

    Logo Inappropriate? Yes.

The community logo photo is actually about 7 years old. It was taken at a pro-war demonstration and it's been bandied about by antiwar folks for a long time. Some one should replace it with one of these photos for the sake of authenticity.

Breaking news! You won't find this on the lame-stream media (NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC). There is a movement afoot that is trying to discredit the tea party. I'll not give you their address but I've copied their mandate for you!

    "How will we succeed?"

"By infiltrating the tea party itself.

Whenever possible we will act on behalf of the tea party in ways which exaggerate their least appealing qualities.(mis-spelled protest signs, wild exagerations in TV interviews) to further distance them from main stream Americans and damage the publics opinion of them"

These tactic are right out of Saul Lewinsky's book "Rules for Radicals".. oh, Barack O's blueprint for obtaining his first public office in Chicago!
