The President Is Powerless...

I don't see how the President could fix anything in America,
and it looks like a downhill slide to the end from here.
I believe that The Senate has been bought and paid for,
and is becoming a hereditary office at this point.
Lots of big money is required to attain the position,
and the door has been opened for lots of big money to be spent.

In the Roman Republic, a seat on the Senate was purchased
by paying Caesar. In the present Republic, Caesar is hidden
behind the cloak of being a "Government Contractor". And the
Senators appropriate funds from the money Americans earn.

The President has very little power. The previous President
appeared to have great power, because he was doing what the
decision makers wanted him to do. The current president is
finding out what happens when one attempts to stand up to a
tidal wave of force.

Zaphod Beeblebrox anyone?

It's been a 6000 year recorded mess of ALL types of man's governments!

Hello my friends,

I agree with you! However, there is a root cause to the madness:

(1 John 5:19) 19 We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one.

Remember what Satan said to Jesus when he showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and said: “All this authority . . . has been delivered to me, and to whomever I wish I give it.” (Luke 4:6) Jesus did not contradict Satan’s boast. And Satan’s words harmonize with what Paul later wrote to the Ephesians: “We have a wrestling, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12) Moreover, the book of Revelation depicts Satan as a great dragon that gives to a beastly symbol of the world’s political system “its power and its throne and great authority.”—Revelation 13:2.

(John 12:31; 2 Corinthians 4:4) There is much more to it if you want to know the truth.

What are you thinking of doing to help solve our problems with the Dems and Repubs? I'd be interested in knowing if you feel any independents that are showing an interest are worth looking into. What about this T. Boone Pickens?

I know very little about rule XXIII. Looking it up, I see rules that attempt to limit forms of nepotism in The House of Representatives, along with other limitations. I didn't note any reference to the Office of the President. As for the "holding up" of bills, this has been a political device for all of Americas history. And it ties in to the "representational democracy" that we supposedly live by. Certain things take 51%, others take 66% of the vote to gain a majority. If not enough are in favor of it, the bill will die. The opposing side will say that the bill was, "held up forever". The bad part about all of this is that the whole mess is played out as a battle between "Us and Them" , and the division only hurts the country in the long run. I see that government should make things better for all, not just make things better for the majority.

What about this rule XXIII, I've been reading about. Just read that is a biggest problem in not allowing the President to get any bills to sign. They get held up forever. What do you know about it?

A change is definitely needed. All the gloom and doom the media is representing can be replaced with true action if we the people decide to take back control of our own country. Remember 'by the people. for the people'? The President of the United States is our ultimate representative. He can not effect the changes we want unless we are truly represented to our government by State representatives. State governments should take precedence anyway, over big federal government, in my view.

I see that this is the problem, and it is why I say the system in corrupt. At this point, I don't see how one person could change the things that have been sliding away from the control of the populace for 50+ years.
There is talk about "Obama's Heath Care Bill" which is not the President's bill. The President said he would back the bill, but it is not his to author or pass into law, it is only the presidents responsibility to affirm the bill (sign it) or deny it (veto the bill) after Congress has written it and passed it.

Is everyone Self Interested? - Yes, it seems so ;) But self interest battles "Special Interest" in Washington, and Special Interest equals money. Money in the form of contributions, The great American "Pork Barrel" and the distribution of all Federal funds, from highway projects to Housing projects.
To effect change in America, Members of Congress who play this game will have to be replaced with ones that don't. The effect of tenure in Congress stays this replacement. As a member of Congress gains tenure, they gain committee seats that enable them to "feed the monster" that helps to keep them in office. People want term limits when the 'enemy' holds office for too long, yet they want "their" representative to hold their seat for as long as possible.

In the end, States will need to replace their long standing Senators and Representatives to affect any change. Yet more and more sons of Senators take their fathers seat in the Senate, and continue the same behaviors.

Is everyone, first and foremost, self interested? Does this allow any good intentions to dull over time. What kind of person would it take to break the mold. To do what is right-and not what is right for them.
