The 24 Hour News Cycle Drives Me Nuts.

To think that CNN was created by a war and sustained by a morbid fascination with pyrotechnics makes me shudder.

I do believe they were in trouble two years ago and that their fortunes were reversed by the latest election. In that time, they have tried to keep people tuned into what was a fascinating spectacle.

After the election, I hoped they would go away, but the addiction to ratings revenue suggests that they won't. I just wish we could turn off the tv forever.

I really believe the post-election coverage is damaging to our democracy. This 'will he or won't he succeed' shtick is not journalism. It's a contrived to keep people watching and it's doing nothing for our morale as a nation.

What troubles me most is the news anchors who sit on the sidelines in judgement and pass off their sanctimonious opinions as news.

Nobody knows what is going to happen, but when it does, you can be sure they will be there to tell us, "we told you so"

It's quite disturbing.

Ratings sell and are all that matters. Never mind the facts, here now the news.
