I Think Too Much

I definitely think too much and it is not always good. I can do something stupid and cannot get it out of my head and wonder why I did it and what people must think. Then sometimes it is just random thoughts that keep me from going to sleep at night and sometimes cause me to be anxious. How can you stop this? I have not yet found a way to stop my brain from thinking the thoughts it wants to think when I don't want it too. It is very hard for me to shut it off. I have even tried to let my mind go blank and relax but then I start thinking of things again. It is a never ending battle and I would love to know how to fix it.

This is one of the hardest things to do - and probably why a lot of people become addicts. How do you stop yourself from thinking?
I know exactly how you feel. I go over things once, twice, 5 times, 20 times, etc. I still go over things that happened years ago.
I'd like to know how to stop it as well.

I have never heard it called that. I just wonder what causes it and what you can do about it. I went to counseling a few years ago and the counselor would help me to relax totally and clear my mind but I haven't been able to do it since. I know there has to be some kind of trick to it. I just haven't figured out what it is.

I think they call it "monkey mind" in meditation - when you can't stop thinking even to meditate. I'm there too!
