I also have had 3 episodes of TGA. Each brought on by stress. In each case, I was aware that something was not right so I know I was functioning. I am also concerned about the connection to statin drugs. I had experienced an episode of severe allergic reaction (severe swelling of mouth/edemea) when on statins after open heart surgery. Only on Crestor now, but re-thinking that also. I was also relieved that others have had multiple occurrences of this. After the last one, I was referred to a Neurologist; however, he wanted to put me on Dilantin and I felt the cure was worse than the disease.
I've made my peace with it and if it happens again, I feel confident that my sub-conscious is programmed to keep me safe (in my belief, Jesus) and that no harm will come to me.
I am only ashamed that my son had to see this and live through the repetitive questions I ask. The last time it happened, about 6 months ago, I was being accused by a manager of conduct that couldn't be proven or verified and I remember when the conversation with him ended, that I started to record what happened on my IPhone. When I looked back at it later, I had begun to recount the details, but had stopped. I must have begun the episode then. ( .I was living paycheck to paycheck and was "making too much money" and my foodstamps were withdrawn. I was desperate.) Later that day, I called my son, who lives with his wife and daughter nearby, and said I believed I was going into a TGA. He drove me to the hospital, but I have no memory of anything after checking my IPhone.
Don't be overly concerned. If it happens again, it may be the combination of drugs and stress. Statins may be more toxic to some people and predisposes us to TGAs because of them.
