The Traditional Way Worked Better, Though

Did -- there was a meet and chat site for over-50s that shut down (I guess we didn't click on enough banner ads?), had lots of folk who had lost their spouses to death or divorce.

I jumped in pretty fast, I guess, about three months after my wife's passing -- after the long time we spent dealing with cancer, it was time to reach out and find new friends.  She told me that I needed to find someone else to take care of, and she was right.

Three or four women responded to my online greetings, but only one agreed to meet for coffee -- and it was very clear to both of us that we were not a match.  On the way back to Delaware from that meeting, I pulled out the phone number of a widow given to me by a close friend, and agreed to meet in Tysons Corner.

She's wearing an engagement ring I gave her now.
