Sex On A Plate
My first sushi experience was with a male friend who'd eaten it many times before. I was nervous, mostly because my mother is from the generation that cooks everything, and cooks it a lot. ( She is slowly growing past this. )
From the first cup of tea to the last spoon of green tea ice cream, I loved the whole meal. Salty seaweed, slippery tuna, fleshy salmon with its tense texture... I loved it all. It was so sensuous, and so controlled. Warm rice, cool fish.. I loved the bubbles of roe popping on my tongue. I loved the coiled spring feeling of careful selection and precise placement.
So you can see why I'm so very careful with whom I eat sushi. It has the potential for great embarassment.
