I Try To Speak From The Heart
People tell me no one ever said life was going to be fair. But then I think to myself yes…but no one ever said life was going to be unfair.
But then again, I understand that life needs that balance. Because we would not know happiness without the sadness. I think that is why we cherish happiness so much. We are all afraid to lose it, because the opposite of happiness is unfortunately sadness.
No one can understand why we wish for only happiness when we know we need sadness to know and feel it.
Maybe because we all have this fantasy of the lies we have been told in fairytales. Such as we all live happily ever after.
Obviously we all didn’t. although some may say they have lived happily ever after, they really haven’t had it all. Everyone has had struggles. Some more than others. But we all know what its like to be sad and nobody wants that.
So my question is why do we fear sadness so much? We know in the end it brings happiness. Right?
Or maybe we don’t. maybe when we are all hooked up in the sadness we forget about what’s really good in our lives. We forget that we aren’t going to be sad forever. And happiness will eventually make its way. It just takes some time.
But then I ask myself, what about the people who battle depression, bipolar etc.? what about them. Its harder for them to try and understand happiness when all their life battling these illnesses has put a whole in their heart. Even when they are being treated a lot of times they cannot and don’t want to, see the happiness because of all the sadness being bottled up for so long. Yes I admit that some victims handle it better than others. But, still, they cannot see the happiness that life has brought to us.
so why is it that even though we know that happiness will come we still focus too much on the sadness?
Maybe some of us hold on to the sadness so long that when its time to let go we are afraid to. But why? Why would we be afraid to let the sadness go? Isn’t happiness what we want?
Perhaps some of us fear that going back to being happy will be too overwhelming. Or maybe they perceive that the sadness has become part of them, so therefore are afraid of losing sadness because they are afraid of losing apart of them.
I realize it doesn’t make much sense. But maybe just maybe it makes all the sense in the world.
So how do we let go of the sadness in order to let the happiness in?
Maybe we just need to learn how to let go.
Unfortunately I am still trying to learn to let go.
As soon as I learn to let go then and only then will I be able to experience happiness again.
But until then I will just have to deal with the sadness of life until I find the light of happiness.
