Words are power, for good or ill. And, more than anything else, they tell the world what kind of person we are.

This is why it's important to think before you speak. Hurtful or careless words, once spoken, are very hard to take back. Even if you apologize, once it's out there, the damage is done. Words can leave emotional scars that can last for a lifetime; you can easily say something the person will never forget.

Words also have the power to heal, encourage, and energize someone who is feeling down. In a dog-eat-dog world, people really appreciate it when you treat them with kindness, dignity, and respect.
