Not Sure Why

I just feel like it is time for me to be young. By that I mean it is time for me to be unapologetically a 21 year old girl with all the wants and needs and likes and dislikes and beliefs and ideas and fears and hopes and dreams of a 21 year old girl in this day and age, that last part is very important.

It's time for me to be me, because that is what I am, a 21 year old girl of 2012. I'm not my grandparents at 21, not my parents, not YOU. And I'm not a child or an old fogey of today either.

If you can't see that people of different ages live completely different lives and have very different worldviews, well, you must not be a 21 year old living in 2012 then...you must have grown up in a world that taught you that everyone has the same worldview...Well, that's just not true.

By saying it's time for me to be young, I mean it is time for me to be honest (with myself and anyone else) about who I am, about where I come from, about how I am different, about how I am similar to other young people today.

By saying it's time for me to be young, I am embracing my youth...not apologizing for it anymore. I am proud to be a 21 year old of today's world, not ashamed of it.  I know that people my age have nothing to be ashamed of, nothing to apologize for, and a world out there waiting to be lived in to the fullest and no room for being anything less than proud of who you are and where you came from and what you have overcome to get where you are now...and that last part is very important.
