Da Mens Room

So if you speak or understand even a little German, you already know where this story is heading...
After a few relaxing biers at the hotel bar in Dusseldorf Germany, we decided to head out to dinner in practically the only part of the city that survived the Allied bombings if WWII. The most pressing issue, once out of the cab, was to find a place to use the bathroom. My colleages, two of which were on their first trip to Germany and did not understand a word of the language, stepped ahead of me and walked into the nearest 1600's era bar. Meandering our way through the people, I lost sight of the others, only to see one of them, Mike, walk into the women's bath room- thinking that Damen is surely German for da men's room. Satisfing the urge to pee was greater then the realization that there were no urinals. With the heady urge diminishing with each second, the sounds others in the bathroom came to him. Noticing that they were female voices, and the fact that he was in a toilet stall rather then a urinal presented Mike with a whole new problem. Is it better to make a quick and silent exit, and possibly be thought of as both dirty and stupid, or should he wash his hands and be thought just stupid. Mike, felt, for our nations' sake, it's better to wash his hands and listen to the scorn, then to simply walk out. Which he did, laughed with the ladies in the restroom, and walked out ready to start the second round of biers......and possibly a schnitzel or two....
