How Much Should I Use?

Hi,

I have mild bi-polar and want to start using marijuana to control its symptoms. I prefer it because it is natural.

I can get some-one to supply me with it but how much should I use?

I never taken it before and don't use any other drugs.

If anyone could help me thank you.

Fiona

If I were you I'd invest in a vaporiser (I use a magic flight launch box) - that way you can use as little as 0.10g as an effective dose instead of 0.5g in a joint.

you get dopamine from weed smoking and yes it seems to help... with being more aware of the mood swings... its calming too... i smoke a thin doob maybe every four hours... that way im never really "too" high... im just always stoned. its good
theres no cure, current meds just address the symptoms , same as weed just not as full on as"drugs", plus less chance of mania from withdrawls unlike... go on name a few, lithium, prozac blah blah.... main thing is sleep, diet, support n excersise oh n CBT helps
jake 32 unmedicated, functioning pretty good considering :)

are you aware that most cannabis users end up severely bi polar unless continiously under it's influence? it does not balance bipolar conditions, it only sedates the mental state. It causes a reduction in seratonin which is the opposite of what is needed to treat Bipolar conditions

I am still learning my self. Maybe there is a doctor that could help. In California there is wide use and doctors prescribe all the time. May be this is a good place to start looking.

I'm 65 and suffer from rapid cycle Bi Polor and can say from expeience that the herb is great for depression for me. I was not smoking however for six of those years while going to AA , they will kill a buzz for anyone using anything and used to tell me not to take my meds for depression . That had to be the worse 6 yrs I ahve ever spent. Today I don't go to AA and don't miss it and I don't listen to anyone but myself and I choose to use it for depression as well as mania and it works beautifully!

i have had bipolar since i was 17 and i am also pmdd i have been on many medications for lots and lots of years some work but for how long. and who knows this may not work for long we'll see i started taking well smoking for 3 months now since Jan. i take 2-3 puffs 2-4 times a day i use a 60-40 blend i have only had one episode and it was a mild one. no meds with side effects.

My partner is bipolar, add, ocd, panic attacks etc. We are in Colorado so we can get medical marijuana-safer, I think. AND the the dispensary can tell you stuff like "this is an Indica-better for anxiety etc. A Sativa is good for depression. There are blends, like 50/50-which may lower chance of triggering mania." There is a broad spectrum. If you have mild bi-polar, our referring physician has said to take only 1-2 hits. Wait about 20 minutes and see how you feel. You may want to medicate with it several times per day. A sativa in am for depression (some people with ADD find sativa's work best for concentration-others are helped by indicas: kind of how ritalin (like 'speed') slows down people with true ADD. Don't overmedicate or use if you have an addictive personality and can't moderate your use. Sometimes my partner overmedicates and I call it "getting stupid." He just kind of zones out, can't follow a conversation or act 'normal,' and it may increase his anxiety. It's all subjective to you. Good luck!

wuz up fiona i wanted to tell u i have A.D.D. AND BI-POLAR and i been smokin weed since i was in middle school and i can tell u this it helps. well me personally anyway before i was never able to concentrate on class because ma mind always raced while i was tryin to learn. when i started smokin i was able to pay attention and i was so much calmer in class.

Dear Fiona. We are all unique, but I can tell you from my experience that there is a huge risk that marijuana will trigger mania. Marijuana masks depression which is why we like it (I loved it until I was able to finally quit by going to NA meetings).
But the price is too high. If we suffer mania our judgement goes out the window and we will end up lower than low.
