Not A Grammar Nazi But...

It is pretty irritating to see how many people have basically given up on spelling. I try not to be a jerk about it, and usually just let it slide when I see it, but every once and a while I just get fed up. Is it really that much more convenient to type "2" instead of "to" or "u" instead of "you"? That's not even mentioning all of the terrible misspellings I come across on a day to day basis. I'm really not that good at spelling either, I just tab out when I want to check the spelling of a certain word. Perhaps that's going too far, but is it really too much to ask that people just do a basic spell check before they send an e-mail or post something, especially when they're trying to sound intelligent?

I could not agree more; and proper English, not American.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. An especially annoying pet peeve of mine is when people say "seen" instead of "saw".

I maybe go a little far as well. If I'm typing and don't know how to spell something correctly, I type it into Google or Dictionary.

back when AIM was in its heyday (before Myspace and Facebook came onto the scene), I used to be one that capitalized things and it seemed as if most of my friends didn't...and I also used punctuation marks when appropriate a heck of a lot easier than they would as well

This is a huge pet peeve of mine. I've also noticed that when I'm in a restaurant the waitress always asks "what can I get for us". I always emphasize YOU can get ME whatever. We are not dining together. It seems like I'm the only one who notices use of the wrong person with pronouns. It's as annoying as someone referring to themselves in the third person. It grates on my ears to hear it. It's even more disturbing seeing it written that way.
