600 Days Cut Free.

At the age of 16, I began to self harm. This was about 6 months after I started feeling suicidal. I continued cutting for a little over a year, and tried to give up many times. My parents kicked up a big stink, and there were a lot of problems. However, October 18th 2005 was the last time I cut. I am now over 600 days cut free, and while the urge is still there - and can be quite frequent - I know that I can beat it. And if I can, you can too.

Well done. As far as i'm concerned the urge will always pop up now and again, and i know it takes a lot not to give into. I started when i was 14 and carried on until i was 17 cutting using a razor blade on a regular basis. I "stopped" but still gave into the urges from time to time but not regularly. I'm 24 now and it's almost 3 years since i last cut myself and i still find it so hard not to sometimes. You just have to keep remembering how hard it was to stop.

I managed to overcome my cutting, and my urges are there, too. But you can always over come it and say to yourself, "I don't need to self harm. I did nothing wrong."

Congrats! You're an inspiration.<br />
