Honesty Over Flattery

Many times during my life, I've had friends who never said a bad thing about me to my face, but said them to others. And I've had friends who were very antagonistic towards me at times telling me what they thought. But to me, I much prefer the latter given these choices. To me, the person who tells me like it is, is much more of a friend than someone who soothes my ego with lies telling me what they think I want to hear. I don't know how unique I am in this but that's me.
