When I was little, we used to visit my grandfather in the town close to ours very often. All his children came to visit from time to time, we had family gatherings with all my aunts, uncles, and cousins. BUt... it all happened when my grandfather died. Suddenly family was not family, all they cared about was who will inherit the house and the vineyard behind the house. My mum (it was her father) was devastated, especially because she was the only one who was with him through his illness until the very end... while all her sisters were only waiting to get their claws on the possible inheritance. That was when she decided to just walk away and let them fight for what they wanted. And with that we lost contact with my aunties, my mum with her sisters. Her own sisters that turned into gold-diggers after their own father died. Blood does NOT make a family.
