A few weeks ago my husband and I spent a week in Polperro, Cornwall and we decided to walk the coastal path to Looe about four and a half miles away. It was really pretty and I was hugely glad that I'd bought a cheapo trekking pole because there were some very steep climbs. About two thirds of the way my husband noticed an adder crossing the path just ahead and pointed it out excitedly. I saw it too. It was the first time either of us had ever seen a snake in its natural habitat so we were very happy.
