So, my fiance and I moved out to Iowa, from Nebraska, a few months ago, with my three year old son, my cat, and my two pet rats. (Yes, he's a wonderfully tollerant and supportive man. :D) The problem is, we live smack dab in the middle of nowhere. Six miles from a town of about 500, ten miles from a town of maybe 1200, and twenty three (or so) miles from a town that's even big enough to have a super Wal-Mart (but just barely). I don't know anyone out here, and we don't go to church, or spend much of any (meaning, perhaps a dozen hours a year) time in bars... So... How does one meet, and make friends their own age? People my age are generally known for their wild, partying ways. At least, so I've heard. I'm picky when choosing friends. No drugs, very little drinking, and at least a decent IQ.
What I'm trying to get at, is that I am an incredibly lonely housewife (Well, almost wife), and a dog seems like a near perfect solution. Something small... Less than 30 lbs, so if it got into a tiff with my cat, neither one would consistently end up on top. Something that doesn't yapyapyap constently, or gnaw at anyone's ankles... Something that doesn't shed much, and doesn't require daily, excessive brushing or bathing. Something that's small enough I can carry it, yet just big enough to make someone think twice about sneaking up on me. Something that'll be a couch potato when I wanna be, and prance like a mad fairy when I want to do that instead, LOL.
I want a dog. Yes. I've put FAR TOO MUCH thought into it.
Or have I?

Posted Jan 22nd, 2008 at 5:42PM Please let me give you one of my dogs! PLEASE! They woke me up at 4AM this morning. I never get any sleep anymore! My oldest dog is 15 and will be 16 in August. My youngest dog wants constant attention which with 3 other animals, two of which are cats, I can't give. My cats love both my dogs. The only reason the larger dog is 35#s is because he was fixed. I believe he could lose down to under 30 if kept on a diet and got the excercise that I can't give him. I can't run on my knees and he needs to run. He still has too much energy for me. I would miss him terribly. He is the cuddliest of the two and loves having his ears rubbed and my cats would miss him and my other dog not so much. They are very jealous of each other lately.
Posted Jan 24th, 2008 at 9:12AM LOL... While that is, indeed, a very wonderful offer, I did forget to mention that the largest hurdle we have to overcome is our landlord. We're not sure yet if he will let us have a dog or not. He lives in another state, but wants to come and actually see how well we've taken care of the house, without a dog, before he makes a decision. Which is a pretty good idea... Though, I have a feeling he's gonna say no, and I'm going to end up even more lonely than I was before.
Posted Mar 23rd, 2008 at 5:45PM I don't think I could really give him away I just want to every now and then. My little dog peed on me last night because he doesn't like having his hair trimmed. It is very long and tends to matt and can get funky in places which makes him stink and gets my bedsheets dirty.
