I Want a Penpal

I leave for Marine Corps Recruit Training in September. My biggest fear is being the only guy in Boot Camp without someone to write to. After my father died three years ago, I've spent most of my time trying to take care of my mother. The other part of my time has been spent working to pay for basic living. I haven't really had time to make friends or keep up with old ones. I would love to have someone actually be interested in my success at Boot. I never really had a penpal, but I am definately interested in getting one now.

    :D penpals are fun actually. I used to have one when i was in elementary. Sadly i came to late cause i bet ur already training :(

    Paris Island is rough, and I have a few military friends as well as my own fiance being over in Afghanistan and Iraq, penpals are great, you can usually tell them anything your fears, your hopes, your sadness ect..and usually penpals help you through those things. I'm sorry about your dad, I never got to know my own father, he left when i was five and my little sister was 5 and my older sister was 11...it's close to losing a parent..at least in my eyes and the way I feel..there has been many a time where I ave wished for someone to talk to, I haven't had a penpal in years i hope you're doing great.

    Sorry about your father(I'm 52) and have lost both parents. I know about loss of a loved one. I am married and would warn you to wait till you are older(retired at best). I married into a very dysfunctional family.



    My family is American(father) and a Japanese mother. I have many relatives in Japan. They are great! I was born in Japan and speak and understand it flurently.



    I went to college, coached football and coached with some NFL Superbowl coaches. I had a great childhood. Very few struggles. I'm good to bounce things off of when you have questions/concerns.



    Good things come thru hard work.
