I Want Ep Peace

What is happening around here?   I hate seeing good people fight!  I love a healthy debate but we have to remember to respect each other.  And if someone is just being an @ss, ignore them--don't feed their ego by trying to argue with them.  It accomplishes nothing but anger and bad feelings.  There are often times on here when I would like to make a snarky remark to someone about something they have written, but I refrain.  My goal here is to be positive, and as my Poppa always said to me "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all"  I have revised that a bit to say, 'if you can't say somthing constructive, don't say anything'.  Just voicing my frustration here--I love this place and don't want to see it become just another petty social networking site.

    I agree with you Rockybear, I treasure the friends that I have made and so far have not come across any bad apples, I hope it stays that way.

    There are so many great wonderful people here I'm not gonna let a few bad apple stop me from enjoying all the great friends I have made.

    You are correct in saying that if people can't back-up the remarks they post then they shouldn't post them. These people are obviously only looking for an argument. However, I welcome any & all points of view on anything I have posted & would not block anyone because of their opinion. I speak my mind & am more than willing to back it up, rationally, no help needed.

    I just figure that if someone doesn't defend themselves when questioned, their position must be indefensible and yes, I have seen a lot of blind followers here too. When this happens, I prefer to leave it be--I know that it is not a personal attack--but others may see it as one, so I prefer to use discretion and drop it. Maybe this is a feminine perspective, I don't know. I know that men and women do handle things differently.

    I am probably more guilty of this than most, but what I don't like is people stating opinions and then not defending them if questioned. All that seems to happen is their EP followers come rushing to defend them and miss the original point completely, regardless of how reasonable it was. If I see something on here that I consider to be wrong or inaccurate I will continue to constructively point it out, and will happily debate my position. I have never blocked anyone on here, and I can't envisage a situation where I would do that.

    I have not had any personal attacks but I hate seeing people that I have come to respect here getting into it. It is very distressing to me. I know these people are better than this--I just wish that they would realize it too.

    I think we each participate in our own way. Although I have observed the blocking, harassing etc. via other people's stories, personally I haven't experienced it.



    Is there some kind of karma at work here?
