Learning To Allow God To Be My Lord And Not Just My SaviorI thank God for the fact that all who believe on Jesus can expect to spend eternity with Him but I also desire to spend this life walking in union with Him. Jesus told those Jews that believed on Him that if they continue in His Word, then they are His disciples and that they would know the truth and the truth would set them free, John 8:31-32.
I realized some time ago that although I had recieved Jesus as Savior I was having a hard time allowing Him to be my Lord. One day I asked the Lord why was I having so much difficulty allowing Him to be the Lord of my life and He showed me that because of the many hurts and abuses of my childhood that I had made a promise to myself that when I got grown no one else would control my life. He showed me that I had pretty much kept that promise to myself which also meant that I had not allow God to be in consistant control of my life.
That has been many years ago and I am so thankful that I am not what I used to be but I have to be mindful each day to allow God to be in control. There are times that I don't want to obey God in certain areas of my life and have to ask Him to help me do what He wants me to do. He has been faithful and I am so grateful that our Father is a patient and loving God.
