It Is Better to Know

Some people have the tendency to only see the negative side within themselves/their life. And on the other side of the spectrum, some people only see the good or positive aspects of themselves. In reality, we all share both, but if we don't look inside ourselves, if we don't spend an equal amount of time appreciating ourselves as we do criticizing ourselves...we will be out of balance, and confused when we enter into relationships with other people. I believe that you must first learn to be honest with yourself...the good and the bad, if you want to be able to be honest with others. By being fair to yourself, you can beging to appreciate yourself. It will help you understand your weaknesses and your strenths. By knowing these, you can use the knowledge to help you make healthier decisions. As an example, let me use knowledge of things, and how that helps us. On a somewhat superifical example, one related to our bodies, consider this: When you understand the important benefits of water (literally) in your life, you can appreciate it more and work to making sure that you drink enough at all times. When you know the negative effects of smoking on your lungs, you learn that if you value your life, this is something to stay away from. But if you don't value your life, you will lack the ability to make a healthy decision to love your own body. You will allow yourself to believe whatever story allows you to not have to change. Sigh. We all do this, no one is perfect. But those who are honest with themselves, those who ACCEPT the good, the bad, and the ugly are more readily able to accept the good, the bad, and the ugly in the rest of life, and in relationships. Acceptance. Its what we ALL CRAVE. But it must begin with accepting onself. Knowing your key to having what it takes to engage yourself in life in a healthy way, and to increase the potential of having a healthy influence upon those whom you choose to hold dear to you someday.
