I like small stones. they are beautiful, yet very expensive. Most of us on ep can't afford it.

Very interesting. My mind boggles at the thought of one diamond being worth $250 million, and the fact that Liz Taylor's diamond has now increased in value to $100 million. I love beautiful things, but to my mind, I would rather watch a fawn scamper with it's mother, or a sunset, or watch an ocean wave, than have a diamond. But, I appreciate each to his own. What suits one does not suit another. We all value different things greater than the other. However, I really enjoyed reading this. I would like to see the diamond exhibition at the Smithsonian, if I am ever in Washington D.C. again.

I know. Some of this so-called art is ridiculous in my mind. I once saw garbage...yes...real garbage arranged into something...whatever it was, and painted, so it was all glossy, and it is called art. I could go empty my own trash can, and throw some paint over it, if I wanted to see something like this. Now, I do see the value in a beautiful gemstone, but those values, are way out of orbit, in my opinion, but thanks so much for the information.

Ego Trip!...........To me diamonds, etc is like politics! Its a stone that takes many years to create. Well.....so what,......so is each family generation. Out of generations.....their might be one Diamond in the ruff come out of of it. But that one Diamond in the ruff might just get the one who gets booted out.

True, the skill of creating it into a beautiful stone is the beauty of one. But I have to say I have seen lots of women with these stones that are not what I would call a beauty neither physically or mentally. That is why I used the term "Ego Trip" Its also the same with one drapping themselfs in gold. Its beautiful...but enough is enough. I was in a Gov office recently and the woman had so much of this bling on that I couldn't focus or concentrate on why I was even there. It might not have been so bad had she not have been so tanned. That made it really stand out. Ha....

Now what is neat to me, is how they can take ones ashes and turn it into a diamond.

The light in my dog's eyes when she sees me arrive home is more precious to me than any stone. Love your poems, Caithness.
