About 6 years ago, I was very immature & irresponsible. I got into some trouble with not paying my car insurance and getting my license taken away. I recently was pulled over and still have those tickets from the past. No one else knows about them, besides the court and myself. Everyday I stress about getting this part of my life cleared up. It's something I have to do. I have a great job, two kids, & a great boyfriend. The anxiety has built up so much that it's interfering with my everyday & my ability to get things accomplished. I have been dealing with this on my own for years and I'm so afraid of what the important people in my life will think of me & my mistakes. I know they're just traffic tickets and it could be so much worse, but at almost 30 years old, I should be in a different place in my life. I think I'm more ashamed of myself for not taking care of it in the past and am embarrassed to be in anyone's life...

You said yourself that this was 6 year ago and you where less mature back then... So why are you beating yourself up..?
I was stopped once for a faulty headlight, and they found out my MOT was out of date! I had to produce my documents at the police station within 24 hours, and had to wait till they decided wether to press charges! OMG I was so scared, I had never been in trouble before ever! They made me sweat for 6 months, but I was let off with a caution...
So you did something stupid! Just be glad you did not have an accident well uninsured... Forgive yourself and move on.
Please understand that all drivers at some point have got into a bit of a mess, some don't care and do it all the time, but your like me, you regret it and feel the burn of shame when you think about it, but you took your punishment and your now a sensible young Mum. Please don't waste time thinking about stuff that don't matter no more.

You already know it is wrong, so you are on the way to fixing it. You already spoke to people who listen by writing it here.

If you owe money, pay it off.

Always pay taxes & insurance. Every other bill can have a payment plan arranged. Making regular payments shows "good faith" and keeps you clean and proud.

Tell everyone important to you as soon as you have set up a payment plan. This way you have already shown that "as soon as you knew" these were still outstanding you took care of it as a responsible admirable adult. Tweak it so it sounds that way and at least you can avoid some extra guilt being placed on you by anyone you tell. They cannot complain that you took care of it. Thats the moral of that story. No one can argue it at that point. It could happen to anyone. Everyones mistakes are different yet all in the same pot.

You screwed up but you know it now and you fixed it now. Thats that.

You can fix it, Dear. Talk to the people involved and set up a plan to get things rectified. It is frightening, I know, nut after you talk to them and start to get things squared away, you will feel SO much better. I know this from personal experience. I still have trouble with these types of things. It will be okay. Good luck to you!!

I think I just need to call a lawyer and see how to get this all fixed. I'm just dreading dealing with it :-/

You can do it!

You should not be embarrassed of your mistakes. Everyone makes them. Accepting your mistake and fixing it, what more could anyone expect of you. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Thank you!! I really appreciate the support. It's really getting to be too much to deal with. I guess I forget it's ok to make mistakes, as long as you fix them.. We're only human...
